Kyoto - the city where everyone looks like they're either in junior high or a senior citizen.
We left Tokyo in the early morning and took a 2.5 hr Shinkansen ride to Kyoto.
For lunch we stumbled upon this little joint where they specialized in... I don't remember what it's called in Japanese or English, but it was like a grilled skillet pancake with your choice of meats. It was really tasty.
Later on we visited the Kiyomizu temple. Kyoto is known for their geishas. We saw a bunch of them around town. But as we were walking up towards the temple, we found that people could rent out a geisha outfit for a day. So there were a lot of tourists from China and HK dressed up in these geisha costumes. Anyways, with the temple architecture and people in traditional garb, I felt like I was in an episode of Inuyasha.
We did a lot of walking, looking at a couple more temples.
Then we ate dinner at Omen, famous for their dipping udon. They also have a New York City location. Perhaps we'll try that one out too just for comparison.
